November 4 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

All members are invited to join us for breakfast and a special speaker, Mr. Ethan Tapper, before hearing annual updates from our various committees. We meet on the seventh floor of the cathedral in the Perry auditorium.

Ethan Tapper is an internationally recognized forester from Vermont and author of the 2024 bestseller, How to Love a Forest: The Bittersweet Work of Tending a Changing World. Ethan bought a 175-acre forest in 2017 and began to help this forest heal from “every problem that a forest could have.”  Work on “Bear Island”, as he calls it, helped him crystallize many of the ideas that would eventually become How to Love a Forest.

He wrote the book one hour at a time—from 5:00-6:00 AM each day—before performing the countless acts required to help this forest “reach toward wholeness again.” In 2024, Ethan started social media channels using the handle @HowToLoveAForest where he distributes hundreds of videos about natural history, ecology, forest stewardship and more. We look forward to hearing from him on November 4.
