Our annual Benefit for the Gardens and Grounds of Washington National Cathedral
All Hallows Guild has hosted Flower Mart since 1939
Flower Mart is our largest annual fundraiser for the Cathedral's gardens and grounds. We appreciate all who sponsored, organized, volunteered, and attended Flower Mart 2022! The weather wasn't perfect, but as always, Flower Mart shined! We look forward to seeing you next year - May 5th and 6th, 2023 for our 83rd Flower Mart.
There's something for everyone at Flower Mart
Ride our Antique Carousel
All Hallows Guild’s antique carousel is a favorite of the young and young at heart. It dates from around 1890, and is one of only two surviving carousels manufactured by the U.S. Merry-Go-Round Corporation. The carousel was purchased by the Guild in 1963 and we continue to restore and refurbish this historic treasure.
Explore our Booths
Purchase spring plants for your garden, find treasures in our White Elephant Tent, children's books in our Book Tent, and shop for a wide array of merchandise at over 65 boutique booths. Flower Mart is the perfect place to find gifts for Mothers Day, graduations, and something special just for you!
Our Flower District is located in the center of the Cathedral's front lawn. In addition to excellent array of garden plants, you will find herbs, bonsai, orchids, floral arrangements and cut blooms. International Floral Display
Since 2006, Washington Embassies and their floral designers will have installed gorgeous displays that highlight each country’s natural and cultural heritage in the nave of the National Cathedral. The floral display is open throughout Flower Mart. Bring your camera. Admission is FREE.
Throughout both days of Flower Mart, entertainers perform on the main stage in front of the Cathedral (or inside in the event of rain). We will present a wide-ranging array of talented singers, dancers, musicians, and choral groups.
Activities for Children
In addition to our carousel, Flower Mart has an entire Children’s Area with a huge array of games and carnival rides. Tickets for the carousel, rides, and games, can be purchased at the ticket booth in the Children’s Area.
Enjoy Great Food
Flower Mart has everything from barbecue and smoothies to funnel cakes, crepes and artisan pizza. Don't miss grabbing a lobster roll - a Flower Mart favorite!
Cathedral Carillon Concert
Flower Mart will debut the award winners in the international carillon competition, Inspired by Olmsted. Washington National Cathedral Carillonneur Edward Nassor will play these very special compositions on both May 6-7 at 12 noon on the Cathedral's 53 bronze bell carillon.
The carillon was dedicated on September 22, 1963. The smallest bell of the carillon weighs 17 pounds and the largest 12 tons. The carillon is played via a keyboard and pedals, situated high in the Cathedral’s central tower (150 feet above the nave floor) and directly amid the bells.
As our global community continues to restore its footing, we celebrate the "haven of peace" that the Cathedral's beautiful and historic gardens and grounds provide to our neighbors and visitors from around the world. For over 100 years, the 57 acres of the Cathedral Close have been a place where people of all faiths gather for reflection, solace, comfort, and enjoyment. All Hallows Guild was founded in 1916 to serve as stewards to this magnificent landscape.
Passport DC is a month-long journey around the world highlighting DC's thriving international diplomatic community and its lively and varied culture. Celebrated annually in May, which is International Cultural Awareness Month in Washington, Passport DC is 31 days of programming by 70 embassies and some of DC's very best cultural institutions.
In 1940 All Hallows Guild hosted the second annual Flower Mart on the Cathedral’s Pilgrim Steps. In attendance at the event was White House resident First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Mrs. Roosevelt was one of eight First Ladies who have attended Flower Mart. Learn more about Flower Mart's First Ladies on our blog.
During the February 3, 1939 meeting of the All Hallows Guild Executive Committee the idea of having a Flower Mart on the Pilgrim Steps was proposed. To read about our humble beginnings go to our blog
