This garden next to Pilgrim Road, a memorial to Mrs Paul Nitze, former All Hallows Guild President, has been redesigned and replanted several times. Changing conditions of sun and drainage and even new plant discoveries and trends made us decide to replant parts of this area again.
At this moment five new Cornus florida are in place and are joined by different varieties and colors of hydrangea, some Ilex and Viburnum, and various low ground covers and grasses. We do hope that the garden will be vibrant enough to attract attention at the side of the road and be more than just a “drive-by” spot.
The extensive rebuilding of the stone wall that backs the Nitze Garden, commissioned by All Hallows Guild, allowed the new plantings to be safely installed. The new sod placed behind the wall is thriving, thanks to a wet spring and the efforts of our turf crew.
